 Everywhere we look  today things are in the midst of change. . . and the church is no  different!   Ideas that used to work great in the 1950s no longer serve us well and unless we can find a way to accept that truth about life in the twenty-first century, we are destined to continue on a downward spiral as the United Methodist Church. 

This is the year of potential change at First Shinnston!   God has worked through our leadership and given us a vision for ministry to the  community in which we live - and we are faced with the challenge of living into that vision. 

Some of us willingly embrace and celebrate changes . . .and we find ourselves eagerly    looking forward to learning new ways of sharing in ministry with the community and the world. 

Yet there are others among us who like things just the way they are . . .the way they have “always been” and we see any hint of change as a threat to all that we hold precious and dear. 

The answer for us all is to remember who we are and whose we are! We belong to God and each of us has been called by name into ministry to our  community.  We are called to do all that we do in the name of Jesus.   We have the promise that the One who has called us will be with us in all that we do. 

We have nothing to fear!
